Established in 1986, Bhilai Institute of Technology (BIT), Durg, is one of the pioneering and well-recognized engineering colleges in Chhattisgarh. It is situated on a 62-hectare campus. The institute is a private, self-financed college affiliated with Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University (CSVTU). Thus, the courses offered are valid and engineering programs are approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), listed under UGC 2(f), accredited by NBA for multiple undergraduate programs. In addition to that, it has been awarded NAAC ‘A’ grade. 

BIT Durg provides engineering courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and research levels. At the undergraduate level, B Tech courses are available in Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication, Electrical & Electronics Engineering. Furthermore, the institute has introduced advanced courses like Data Science and Artificial Intelligence under Computer Science, including a separate degree, which are offered to meet the demand of the market. 

In addition to the regular B.Tech, candidates are offered B.Tech Lateral Entry, designed for those learners who are interested in studying higher after a polytechnic diploma, and a B.Sc. degree holder interested in pursuing an engineering program can apply for the B.Tech via lateral entry. 

BIT Durg emphasizes building strong fundamentals in subjects like Mathematics, Science, and Engineering Principles, along with specialized courses that depend on the branch. Besides the foundation knowledge, practical and project works are given equal preference, thus well-equipped labs, mini/major projects are included in the curriculum.
