The BE Lateral Entry is a degree course that provides entry at the second year undergraduate level, which saves one year of study and costs. To qualify for the lateral entry program, one is required to have a diploma in the field. This is a professional course that offers the advantage of giving a diploma holder and other students with relevant qualifications a fast track to achieving the coveted engineering degree in one of the top universities in India.

Who Can Apply?
In order to be eligible for the B.E. Lateral Entry program at Chandigarh University:
- You need to have a three-year Diploma in any branch of Engineering/Technology with at least 50% marks, in a recognized polytechnic or an institution.
- Instead, you are eligible to apply in case you have graduated with a B.Sc. degree granted by a recognized University as required by UGC and have obtained a minimum of 50% marks and have successfully cleared 10+2 exams with Mathematics as a subject.
- The first year curriculum, all Basic Science, Mathematics and Program Core Courses should be included in the Diploma/B.Sc degree. Bridge courses must be taken as outlined by the equivalence committee in case of inadequate prerequisites

Chandigarh University Online EMI Details

Chandigarh University B.Tech Lateral Entry Admission Process
There is an online process for applying to CU online university. Fresh admission sessions starts peiodically from time to time. Direct admissions are done in the CU online university which means there is no need to give an entrance exam for securing the admission seat.
The admission procedure 2026 for the online courses at Chandigarh University Online Learning is as follows-
Step 1 Visit the official website of Chandigarh University Online Learning and click on Apply Now.
Step 2Under “Register Today” fill in your personal details. After this, you will receive your login User ID and password via SMS or Email.
Step 3 Now log in using the User ID and password to fill out the online application form and pay the program fee.
Step 4 Upload all the necessary documents by clicking on “Document Upload” along with your recent passport-size colored photograph and then click on the “Submit” button.
Note: Students can also reserve their seats by paying a blocking amount of INR 10,000 after completion of all the admission formalities.

What is the fee refund policy of Chandigarh University Online Courses? Chandigarh University Online follows UGC refund norms. Students are eligible for 100% refund when they withdraw from admission 15 days before the last admission date. They will be eligible for 90% refund if they withdraw in less than 15 days before the last date. Chandigarh University will refund 80% fee if the withdrawal is made within 15 days after the last date, and a 50% refund applies for withdrawals 15–30 days after the last date. Chandigarh University B.Tech Lateral Entry Examination Pattern
The examination will be conducted in the online proctored mode by the college as per the latest guidelines. The university uses technology-enabled software so the students can give exams from anywhere if they have a reliable internet connection and necessary digital assets. Students who missed their exams can apply for the re-exam facility before the subsequent semesters. In online courses at Chandigarh University, candidates are not required to pay for the exam fee separately.

It has three steps: registering for CUCET with some basic information, taking Eligibility and Scholarship Test and selecting the date of examination, and after passing the CUCET, applying to get admission and get a scholarship based on your merit.
CUCET-2026 has received scholarships of 200 Crores in recognition of academic brilliance. The other scholarships are merit-based scholarships during the academic session, ward-based schemes for wards of defence personnel under the Armed Forces Educational Welfare Scheme, sports-based scholarships/freeships, and other significant scholarship schemes.
CUCET is a test of eligibility and scholarship that decides whether you are admitted and whether you are entitled to a scholarship or not. Upon a successful attempt in CUCET, the results are notified soon, after which you can apply your applications to admission and take up merit-based scholarships.
