IIM Mumbai

Formerly known as NITIE (National Institute of Industrial Engineering), IIM Mumbai has carried on the rich traditions of the institution’s prowess in management education. With the advent of the digital era, IIM Mumbai has updated its curriculum according to industry needs. It stays connected with industry partners from the business capital of India, Mumbai itself. Ranked among India’s top B-schools of India, IIM Mumbai has been ranked 6th in the management category of NIRF Rankings 2024. Established in 1963, this institute has been around for a long while, upskilling students into skilled professionals in diverse functional areas such as  Finance, Analytics, Project Management, HR, Operations Management, Sustainability Management, and Information Technology.

The mode of education in this institute for graduate degrees and postgraduate degrees is offline since these programs are full-time residential. The faculty consists of more than 59 academicians who are highly qualified experts. The students get to meet industry experts through the institute’s connections with its industry partners which help in integrating practical knowledge based on industry insight with classroom teaching. IIM Mumbai has also been accredited by AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), an accreditation body that credits institutions providing management education at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. The programs offered by IIM Mumbai are MBAs, PGDEx-VLFM (Postgraduate Diploma for Executives-Visionary Leaders For Manufacturing), Ph.D., General Management Programme for the Defence officers(DGMP), online MDPs (Management Development Programmes) and several certificate courses meant to specialize in a particular field. The institute has partnered up with many companies that provide placements for the students such as 3M, Abbott, AB InBev, Cipla, John Deere, Aditya Birla Group, EY, etc. 

IIM Mumbai has partnered with foreign universities to conduct student exchange programs and lectures by eminent professors from these universities in North America, South America, Europe, and South-East Asia. This institute aims to produce professionals who will have a higher impact on the corporate structure as well as its output on the nation’s development as business leaders. Thus it aims to lead the field of management education in churning out leadership skills among their students that are meant to be used for making a huge impact on society.

A student can use the EMI facility to pay for the programme fee and additional fees to the institute. EMI could be availed by a student from a plethora of legit EMI providers. An EMI facility eases the burden of students’ financial constraints. Due to the management courses, in institutes such as IIM Mumbai being expensive, it’s challenging to come up with the required money up-front.

IIM Mumbai’s examination and evaluation pattern is set in such a way that it enhances and preserves whatever the student is learning. Using experiential learning to register whatever is learned, the student gets to go through testing formats and understand the subject. There are group exercises that test the student’s ability to cooperate and collaborate. Then there are case studies that broaden perspectives and develop the skillset through the main insights derived from the case study. One could apply concepts and theories to make a project that tests the ability to create something new or discover new paradigms out of the existing knowledge and concepts. Then final exams are held that evaluate the total knowledge, concepts and skills, in order to solidify them.
