Indian Institute of Management Shillong (IIM Shillong) is a public, fully autonomous management institute in Shillong, Meghalaya. IIM Shillong offers a doctoral program full-time PhD program as well as a doctoral degree for working professionals to provide opportunities for individuals who wish to enhance their research skills and can help them work on real-life business and management problems.
The duration of the PhD for the working professionals' program offered by the IIM Shillong is 4 years. However, individuals who are not able to complete their program can extend their program up to a year (or 6 months twice). The individuals are required to clear the entrance examination, including JRF (UGC), GATE, GRE, or others.
Individuals can earn their doctoral degree through an online DBA program. The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) is a three-year program that is considered equivalent to the regular PhD program. The Online DBA program offers flexible class timings for individuals. Individuals do not need to clear any entrance exam or relocate to earn the doctoral degree, along with the ‘Dr.’ title.

Who Can Apply?
The eligibility criteria for the part-time PhD program are :
- The candidates must have completed their master's degree from a recognized university and have an aggregate of 55% 60% in their bachelor's degree
- Those who have done an integrated master's degree must have an aggregate score of 55% to apply for the part-time PhD program.
- A professional qualification like CA, ICWA, CS, with at least 55% marks in the B.Com degree, is also eligible
- The individuals are also required to clear the entrance examination, including GATE, GRE, CAT, or JRF- NET.

IIM Shillong EMI Details
Aspiring candidates can get enrolled to the courses offered by IIM Shillong without considering the financial burden through easy installment options. The “No Cost EMI” option is applied as one of the fee payment modes at the university. Students can choose this option for a duration of 6, 9, and 12 months. This plan might vary depending on the choice of course.
IIM Shillong Part-Time PhD Admission Process
The process of admission to the IIM Shillong is based on the scores of the CAT, MAT, or GMAT exams and personal interviews (PIs). For the batch of 2023-2025 MBA, the CAT cutoff is 75% for general and EWS students and 50% for ST and DA category students.
The university offers direct admission to some of the online programs. The procedure followed for taking direct admission is mentioned here:

Step 2 - Look for the “Apply Now” tab on the website and click it, this will redirect you to another webpage.
Step 3 - Fill out the personal details in the form provided and register yourself with the course.
Step 4 - After registration, log in to the admission portal using the personalized credentials used at the time of registration.
Step 5 - Fill in the details as asked in different stages of the admission process and upload the required documents.
Step 6 - Move on to the Payment section after reviewing the application form.
Step 7 - Choose a suitable payment option for you and deposit the fee.

The final evaluation of the candidates is based on their performance in the internal assessments and term-end exams.
