The Ph.D. program at IIMS (Indian Institute of Management Shillong) was first started back in 2012. Who Can Apply?
Interested candidates, willing to enroll in a Ph.D. program offered at IIM Shillong are required to fulfill the below mentioned eligibility criteria and admission requirements of the program:
- A candidate must have completed a master's degree with a 10+2+3 pattern education qualification from a valid and recognized university.
- A minimum of 55% of the aggregate marks are required at graduation and 60% at the postgraduation level.
- A candidate with a 4 year/8 semester bachelor's degree is also eligible to apply for the Ph.D. program at IIM Shillong.
- Candidates with qualifications in professional courses like CA, ICWA, and CS can also apply if they have scored 55% marks in their bachelor’s degree.
- The applicant must have a valid score in GATE, GRE, GMAT, and JRF (UGC/CSIR) or have qualified CAT examination.
- Students applying for a Ph.D. at IIM Shillong must not be more than 30 years of age prior to applying for the program.
Note: A student willing to pursue a doctorate degree after a bachelor’s degree can enroll in an online DBA program that requires a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience along with a bachelor's degree.

IIM Shillong EMI Details
Aspiring candidates can get enrolled to the courses offered by IIM Shillong without considering the financial burden through easy installment options. The “No Cost EMI” option is applied as one of the fee payment modes at the university. Students can choose this option for a duration of 6, 9, and 12 months. This plan might vary depending on the choice of course.
IIM Shillong Doctoral Program (PhD) Admission Process
Candidates interested in enrolling in a Ph.D. program offered at IIM Shillong are advised to go through the eligibility criteria of their preferred specialization and program thoroughly and apply according to them by following the below listed steps:
- Before applying for a Ph.D. program students are required to appear for Common Admission Test (CAT) or GATE, GRE, GMAT, and JRF (UGC/CSIR).
- Students who cleared the CAT/GMAT or other examinations with a valid score according to the cutoff of the university are eligible to apply for the program.
- Visit the official website of IIM Shillong and apply for the program with your valid CAT or GMAT, GMAT, and JRF (UGC/CSIR) score along with relevant information and documents.
- The institute will shortlist a few students and call them for interviews.
- Candidates who cleared the interview session will be given their offer to join the program.

- Students must qualify Common Admission Test (CAT) examination with a valid score to fall under the cutoff list of the institute or relevant examination required as per their chosen specialization.
- Candidates with a valid score in GMAT, GRE, CAT, GATE, and JRF (NET) are allowed to apply for the program.
- The application fee for general category students is INR 1,000/- which is non refundable.
