IIFT Part-Time PhD

Before applying for the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade Part-Time PhD, the candidate must know the eligibility criteria. This institute has set some requirements that every student must be aware of. The eligibility criteria for admission in a PhD are highlighted below:

• To be eligible, candidates must possess a Master's degree or an equivalent qualification (such as a PG Diploma from any of the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs)), with at least 55% of marks or an equivalent cumulative grade point average (CGPA) that is recognized by UGC/AICTE. A relaxation of 5% marks requirements applies to SC/ST/OBC, PWD candidates. Candidates with an M.Phil. degree and with at least 55% marks can also apply for admission.
• Final-year Master's degree students are eligible for application, but admission will only be considered on a provisional basis, that is, subject to the final results.
• Part-time applicants are required to have at least three years of work experience if they have an industry background or at least one year of experience if they are from a teaching background.
• Part-time applicants must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer, which signifies that the employer is in support of the applicant pursuing the part-time course of study.
• The applicant must possess a Master’s degree that is recognized by the Institute.
• Admission to the PhD program is contingent upon a written entrance exam and an interview.

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade does not provide clear information regarding the EMI facilities. However, various banks offer educational loan facilities for students, in which they can pay the fees in instalments.

The term-end examinations of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade are held online for the online and distance programmes. The students can submit their assignments online through the LMS of the university. For the on-campus programmes, the term-end examination is divided into research, viva, and field visit. The final examination marks depend on many factors, including the attendance of the students. 

Upon the completion of a PhD program which was conducted part-time, you will have opportunities for employment in many sectors beyond academia. The typical career may involve teaching, such as a university professor. Teaching roles involve research and course development. Alternatively, you may work in administration as a director, dean, or head of a department at an educational facility, or you may work, often in government, as a scientist or policy analyst with an agency such as ISRO, DRDO, or CSIR, where you will work on public-facing projects and policies.
