This University was named KUVEMPU after a great Kannada writer, Kuvempu, Jnanpith laureate & doyen of Kannada literature. The examination pattern followed by Kuvempu University’s online program is the most commonly followed pattern, which includes two major components: internal assessment and end-term examinations. 

The internal assessment evaluates the learning of a student through the digital medium and it evaluates the student's self-learning through the assignment they are assigned at the beginning of the semester, whereas the end-term examinations are conducted to evaluate a student's overall theoretical understanding of the program in which they are enrolled. The internal assessment carries a marks weightage of around 20-30% whereas end-term examinations carry 70-80% of the total weightage.
