Nirma University started its doctoral programme in the year of 2003. Since then, the university has offered a vibrant research environment for the students. The admission process for the doctoral programme at the university is focused on the research and domain-related knowledge of the students. The university conducts an entrance examination, which is mainly to test the students' knowledge about research methodology and the domain knowledge of their chosen subject. The entrance exam is followed by the viva or interview. Those students who have cleared the UGC NET/ CSIR-NET or GATE examination are not required to appear for the university entrance exams.

Who Can Apply?
The eligibility criteria for the PhD programme are:
- Students who have completed their master's degree from a recognized university with at least 55% marks in aggregate
- Individuals who have completed their MPhil are also eligible to apply for the programme. They must have an aggregate of 55%.
- Those who have a 4-year bachelor's degree can apply for the programme if they have an aggregate of 75%.
