BTech stands for Bachelor of Technology, an undergraduate 3-year/ 4-year technical program that offers various specializations such as Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nanotechnology, Aeronautical Engineering, Electronics, and Communication Engineering to name a few branches of engineering.
Technical programs require intensive research and hands-on experience for innovations in their respective fields to make our lives easier and to understand our world better.
One of the major factors that influence students for BTech admission is the amount that one needs to spend in order to enroll in the program and how much amount they need to complete the courses to get their degree. In India, the BTech program is offered by government colleges, institutes, deemed, and private universities so the source of revenue for these educational institutions is different.
Hence, the fee charged by the colleges and universities also varies. For students, it becomes crucial to compare the fees for the BTech Program and the learning experiences provided by these engineering schools before considering admission. First, understand the BTech program types and their fees in India.
Different types of options students in India have to enroll for the graduation degree in engineering :

To conclude, not all colleges offer all the Btech disciplines, so students confirm whether their desired colleges provide their preferred specializations and also include the learning experience offered by the college prior to considering any college/ universities. Otherwise, they can consider other college offering their interested domain and the same goes for the applicants who are applying for the BTech for Working Professionals/ BTech Lateral Entry.
Btech is a technical program that requires major subjects in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry in high school. If a student has these major subjects in secondary higher school with a minimum of 50% can apply for an engineering course.
As per the guidelines by UGC and AICTE, BTech WILP ( Work Integrated Learning Program) is a recognized undergraduate degree if a degree is secured from an accredited university. To apply for the program, an individual must have the 3 years diploma certificate. Universities like SVU WILP and Lingaya’s Vidyapeeta are accredited universities.
The fee structure of BTech is between INR 50,000 and INR 8,00,000 whereas the average package ranges from INR 4 to 24 lakhs. BTech Admissions criteria are that students have to score good rank in their JEE Main, JEE Advance, MHTCET, BITSAT, and some other entrance exams.
Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi is the premier and cheapest engineering college in India. The eligibility criteria is that aspirants must have scored 50% in Physics, Maths, and Chemistry in 12 standard.
Lingayas’ Vidyapeeth University, SUV WILP, Delhi Technical University Lateral Entry Program, and Birla Institute of Technology and Science WILPare highly regarded engineering colleges for Working Professionals.
The main reason behind BTech fees is expensive because they require costly equipment. However, there are many government schools that students can opt for when looking for less expensive BTech colleges.
