Entrance Exam conducted for BTech Regular Program

The entrance exam is a screening test to find candidates who are deserving and capable of continuing studies for a 4-year engineering program. The exam is a way to check the knowledge of the aspirants and whether they are aware of the concepts that are taught in senior secondary schools.

The knowledge is tested in the subjects related to Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics which is the foundation of the BTech program. Here is the list of the major entrance exams for the BTech Full-Time program conducted in India. 

1) National Level Entrance Exam 

Mainly national level exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency(NTA) for the best engineering colleges in India. 

JEE Mains: The JEE Mains entrance exam is meant for enrollment to premium institutes and colleges like NITs (National Institutes of Technology, IIITs( Indian Institutes of Information Technology), and other colleges that are funded by the central government. Acceptability of the candidates only if they are fulfilling these conditions: 

  • Candidates completed the 10+2 exam from a recognized institute. 
  • Any Candidates who are appearing for 10+2 exams from a recognized institute can also apply for the JEE Mains.
  • However, no set age limit to appear in JEE Mains. 

JEE Advanced: it is an advanced-level entrance exam. The admission exam is requisite for those aiming for IITs (Indian Institute of Technology). The criteria to apply for JEE Advanced is:

6) BTech WILP without Entrance Exam 

BTech WILP (Work Integrated Learning Program) is an opportunity for diploma holders as they don’t have to go through the grilling entrance exam process. Any aspiring candidate to get BTech undergraduate program must consider these options before enrolling in the program: 

Is it easier to get a UG degree in BTech in India after polytechnic? Yes, universities are presenting the BTech Flexible Timing course approved by UGC and AICTE.  Be it SVU WILP or Lingaya’s University, accept aspirants having a diploma in engineering or any other equivalent degree of 3 years that can be BSc or BCA. Moreover, students are expected to score at least 50% to apply for the BTech WILP program. 

Admission Process for the UG Engineering Regular Program 

Getting admission for BTech in universities or colleges can be different. Some universities allow students to enroll in the program without the entrance exam. However, entrance exam scores are mandatory for some colleges to study the graduation program. 

  • Qualify for entrance exam: it is enough for learners to sit for the entrance exam but have to score a high rank as students are selected on a merit basis. Normally, the admission tests are conducted between April and June.
