What is MTech in Computer Science?
MTech in computer science is a postgraduate course of engineering specialized in the computer science branch. The course can be completed in two methods first is the regular learning method and the second one is the distance learning method.
Distance MTech course is specially designed for those students who have completed their graduation in engineering and now want to pursue higher studies in engineering but do not have enough time to attend regular classes.
The duration of the MTech in computer science course for working professionals is 2 years which is divided into 4 semesters of 6 months each. As per the AICTE and UGC guidelines, the engineering course through distance learning or online learning is truly invalid as engineering is all about practical study along with theoretical knowledge and gaining practical knowledge through online or distance learning is quite impossible.There is a need for a proper classroom setup to gain practical knowledge. So AICTE and UGC decline to accept the engineering degree pursued through distance learning. However, due to this COVID-19 pandemic, the classes of new sessions are conducted online whether it be a regular engineering course or a distance engineering course.

Eligibility For M.Tech Computer Science Engineering
Most of the students want to pursue higher studies in engineering after completing graduation in engineering and the computer science branch is a popular branch of engineering among them. - Computer Science with a minimum of 50-55% marks from a UGC approved the university to take admission in M.tech computer science engineering. However, some universities allow admission to students who have less than 50-55% marks.
- The Distance MTech in computer science course can be pursued by the students who have completed their graduation in any other discipline. It is not compulsory that the student must be from a computer science background to apply in Distance MTech computer science engineering.
- There are some universities in which the students require to qualify for some entrance exams like ZAT, CAT, MAT, CLAT, etc. to be eligible according to the cut-off score so that they can get admission in those universities.

The curriculum of the distance MTech in a computer science course is created to train the students with practical knowledge of computer science engineering. The structure of the distance MTech in computer science course will be completed in 2 years that is subdivided into 4 semesters.
In the first two semesters, the students will learn the common subjects that cover basic computer science subjects. In the later semesters, the students will study the chosen electives.
