The Nalanda Open University (NOU) has started accepting application forms for its 15 postgraduate courses in the 2024-25 academic session. The application forms have been made available from October 16 and will be accepted till November 15. The NOU had recently received recognition for some of its courses from the Distance Education Bureau (DEB).

The 15 recognized PG courses, according to Nalanda Open University (NOU) registrar Samir Kumar Sharma, now open up for admission and include geography (MSc), home science (MSc), chemistry, economics, commerce, Hindi, home science (MA), psychology, education, geography (MA), public administration, environmental science, mathematics, botany, and physics.

NOU's Vice Chancellor Sanjay Kumar said the DEB had de-recognized the courses of the university nearly a year ago due to non-accreditation by NAAC. No admissions were made to UG or PG courses in the 2023-24 session and it effectively became a "zero session." The university reapplied for recognition after getting a 'C' grade accreditation from NAAC early this year.

The university had decided to have all its 59 courses - which include 30 undergraduate and 29 postgraduate programs - reinstated into recognition. So far, the DEB has only cleared recognition of 15 postgraduate courses and sought further clarification on the rest. The registrar said that the university will do its best to respond to the queries of the DEB soonest possible.
