Let's clear up some doubts

As per the norms of UGC, a distance/online M.Sc is equivalent in value and credibility to a regular M.Sc degree in the offline mode if obtained from a well-accredited and recognised university.

The candidate should be a B.Sc graduate or a graduate having completed Bachelor's education with mathematics or science as subjects at the 10+2 level with a minimum of 45% to 50% aggregate marks.

There is no entrance examination to get enrolled in distance/online M Sc. Universities grant admission to students if they meet the eligibility criteria of the university satisfactorily. however, a few private universities might conduct entrance examinations if they deem it necessary.

The mode of the examination depends on various universities. Some universities offer online examination modes while some have offline examinations at designated centres. Most online universities conduct remote online proctored exams whereas those providing a distance M.Sc course may conduct exams in the offline mode.

One can complete distance/online M.Sc within 2 years (minimum period) to 4 years (maximum period).

No, there is no compulsion of doing B.Sc to get admission in distance/online M Sc. Students with any background in their Bachelor's education can get admission in distance/online M Sc. Having a similar subject background may be considered preferable by some universities but is not a necessary criteria.
