Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra is among the oldest and most respected in India, in terms of its prestige, and is a private technical university. The institute was established in 1955 by the enterprising industrialist and philanthropist B.M. Birla, who has the mission to provide the world standard of technical education and promote innovation in the sphere of engineering and technology. BIT is a newly launched university having a UGC grant of this recognition and an NAAC grading of A. BIT is located on a 700-hectare campus at Mesra, on the outskirts of Ranchi in Jharkhand.
BIT has undergraduate programs in different fields of engineering, B.Tech (Lateral Entry also available), B.Pharm in Pharmacy and BBA at the undergraduate level. Postgraduate portfolio consists of the M.Tech in specialized engineering courses, MCA, MBA and M.Pharm courses, and also the institute has PhD programs that are offered in various disciplines to persons seeking a research career.
BIT Mesra has been known to focus heavily on research and innovation, which has seen it have many research centres and laboratories with state-of-the-art technology. The institute promotes interdisciplinary research and also has collaborative concentration with top industries, research institutions and international universities. Knowing that students and their families are grappling with financial issues, BIT Mesra tries to take the burden of paying tuition fees off the student by providing them with flexible payment schemes. Instead of a lump-sum payment, the institute can offer the students to make their payments in instalments, monthly or quarterly payments, depending on institutional policies. However, BIT Mesra does not itself provide a direct EMI facility for tuition fees.

BIT Mesra has clear and merit-based admission policies for different programs. In order to get admitted, you need to do the following steps:
Step 1 : Go to the admission portal of BIT Mesra and create an account.
Step 2 : Click on the program that you want and scan the exact eligibility criteria of the program chosen.
Step 3 : Take the required entrance test or any other predetermined test depending on the course.
Step 4 : After completion of the entrance exams, undergo the internet counselling process, in which you can select the choice of the branch and the campus of your choice.
Step 5 : Provisional seat assignment is made to you, depending on your rank and seat availability and verification of documents is to be done.
Step 6 : Finalize your admission by paying the admission fee using the online payment gateway that is secure, and ensure your admission by reporting to the campus or doing online formalities.

Birla Institute of Technology Examination Pattern
BIT Mesra has a detailed system of semester-based examinations in all its programs. The school year is broken into two semesters (Odd and Even), each having a duration of about 4-5 months and examinations. Assessment comprises Continuous Internal Assessment (30-40%) in the form of tests, assignments, labs and attendance and End-Semester Assessment (60-70%) in the entire syllabus. Practicals and projects are also evaluated in engineering programs. Work in the laboratories is constantly checked, and the minimum attendance is obligatory. The grading system is based on a structure that makes use of credit-based grading with letter grades (A+ to F) and grade points. There is a minimum CGPA to finish the program and receive the degree.

At BIT Mesra, the culture of research is outstanding. Being a postgraduate student, the university also offered me good research facilities and expert mentor personnel.
