Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, formerly called Guru Ghasidas University (GGU), is a Central University of India located in Bilaspur, C.G. State. It was established on June 16, 1983, under the Central Universities Act 2009, No. 25 of 2009. The university honors the great Satnami Saint Guru Ghasidas (born in the 17th century). GGU is an active member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU). GGU has been granted the category 1 recognition by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It has also been accredited by NAAC with an A++ grade. The university has also been recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya has different schools, which consist of different departments through which different UG, PG, diploma, and doctoral courses are offered in on-campus mode. GGU also offers online and distance learning UG and PG courses via its Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE). Since Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya is UGC-DEB-approved, the courses offered via its CDOE department are 100% valid and treated equally to its on-campus degree.
