Kamala Nehru Institute of Technology (KNIT) is a high-quality government-funded college of engineering situated in Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh. KNIT is a university that is associated with Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow, and receives the approval of AICTE. The institute also provides undergraduate programs in the field of engineering, along with the B.Tech Lateral Entry program and other postgraduate courses.

KNIT is a government-funded institution with good engineering education at an affordable fee structure. The tuition fees are relatively low compared to those charged in the private engineering colleges, and as such, it is affordable to students with different economic backgrounds. The fee system usually involves the tuition fees, examination fees and other academic fees. The extra expenses of the hostel rooms, mess systems and other facilities are also paid independently to students who choose to have a residential building. KNIT has a well-organised and transparent admission procedure which is grounded on merit-based and entrance examination. Here are the steps:
Step 1: The candidates would have to take the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main), which is administered by the National Testing Agency in case for admissions to B.Tech.
Step 2: Sign up on the official AKTU counselling website and provide preferences on the institute and branch of choice.
Step 3: Go to the online or offline counselling rounds at AKTU according to the (JEE Main) ranking of the category.
Step 4: In case a seat has been allotted at KNIT, download an allotment letter on the counselling portal and verify the reporting schedule.
Step 5: Report to KNIT within the given time with all the original documents to be verified (mark sheets, JEE scorecard, category certificates and identity proofs).
Step 6: Finalize the admission process by paying the required fees via online/offline payment, as well as providing all required documents to qualify for admission.

Kamala Nehru Institute of Technology (KNIT) Examination Pattern
KNIT uses a semester system according to AKTU regulations for carrying out examinations. The academic year is separated into two semesters, semester lasting about 18-20 weeks of instruction. The testing model will consist of regular in-house testing and end term exams. The internal assessment is performed in a classroom, by way of tests, assignments, quizzes, seminar presentations, and laboratory work, and it typically occupies 20-30 percent of the total marks. End-of-semester examination is carried out by AKTU, and it is 70-80 percent of the total assessment. These tests are administered at special examination centres where they are invigilated strictly and on standard patterns of questions. Laboratory courses undergo practical examinations, which are carried out by the internal and external examiners. Students must maintain a minimum level of attendance to be permitted to have semester examinations. The marking is graded as per the AKTU standards, in which the letter marks are awarded based on the performance. Those students who do not pass in the regular papers are given re-exam possibilities.
