You can enroll in a doctorate or DBA program after completing a B.Tech degree program.
For a doctorate program, you can enroll in a Ph.D. or DBA as both are doctoral level programs, and once you successfully complete the program, it adds the “Dr.” title to your name. A DBA program is similar in various aspects to a Ph.D. program and opting for one program among them solely depends upon the choice of the student. However, there is an alternate option as well for working class students i.e. an Online DBA program.
Students can get a doctorate or DBA degree by enrolling in a recognized university that offers these programs after qualifying for the below listed eligibility criteria of the program:
- Applicants must have a master's degree in a relevant domain from a valid and recognized university.
- A minimum of 55% of aggregate marks must be scored in the postgraduation (for Ph.D.).
- The applicants are required to qualify for GATE, NET, or other entrance exams and interviews (for Ph.D.).
- Students with a bachelor's degree can also apply for the DBA program if they have relevant work experience.
An Online DBA program is specially designed for working professionals and it holds the same value and credibility as a regular Ph.D. program. Students must opt for this program as it can be completed in 3 years only as compared to the 4 - 7 years required for a Ph.D. program.
A few universities offering online DBA programs are mentioned below:
- Edgewood College
- Golden Gate University
- Swiss School of Business Management - SSBM
- ESGCI School of Business
- Rushford Business School
The above mentioned universities are globally recognized universities as an Online DBA program is not offered by Indian universities.

After B.Tech, you can do a PhD or DBA. A PhD needs a master’s degree, exams, and 55% marks, while a DBA accepts work experience too. Online DBA takes 3 years, faster than PhD.

You can pursue a doctorate or DBA after completing a B.Tech degree. Both Ph.D. and DBA programs award the "Dr." title upon completion, and choosing between them depends on personal preference. For working professionals, an Online DBA program is also available.
To enroll in either program, applicants need a relevant master’s degree from a recognized university, achieving at least 55% in postgraduation for a Ph.D. Additionally, passing GATE, NET, or other entrance exams is required for the Ph.D. DBA candidates with a bachelor’s degree must have relevant work experience.
The Online DBA program is designed for professionals and can be completed in just 3 years, unlike the 4-7 years for a Ph.D. Notable universities offering Online DBA programs include Edgewood College, Golden Gate University, Swiss School of Business Management, ESGCI School of Business, and Rushford Business School, as Indian universities do not offer this program. I hope this information is useful and clears your doubts, but if you still have any queries, you can visit College Vidya or connect with the counselor.

Generally, for doctorate courses, you need a master’s degree, but for an online DBA, a B.Tech degree would work well. It's just that you need to gain 3-5 years of work experience before applying to the program. When you apply for an online DBA, you will not be giving any entrance exam, but there might be an interview session that you need to pass to enroll in the program. After you get into the course, you will need to complete the dissertation and coursework to get the DBA degree.

Most programs require you to have a master's degree first from a verified university before being able to take a DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) or a doctorate degree, in case you already hold a B.Tech today. Nonetheless, there are instances when candidates can join the top universities even when they have a degree like B.Tech as long as they come with considerable work experience (5+ years) of working in management or business positions. General steps would entail satisfying the academic and work experience requirements, passing entrance examinations or interviews they be necessary and finally passing the doctoral coursework and writing a dissertation.
