After completing your MCA, you might consider an Online DBA if you don’t have time for a traditional PhD. This flexible option is ideal for working professionals, allowing you to develop both technical and business skills without leaving your job.

After completing an MCA degree, you can apply for either a regular doctorate program or an online DBA. For a regular doctorate or PhD in India, you will have to pass UGC-NET after your MCA. After this, you have to appear for an interview or a research proposal to the department of the university you have applied to. Thus, there is a lot to do for a regular doctorate after an MCA degree.

In the case of an online DBA, after choosing the university and the specialization wisely and by following some simple admission steps, you can easily become a DBA student after MCA. The minimum eligibility of an online DBA is a UG degree with 3-5 years of experience or a PG degree. Thus, you do not have to make much effort to take admission to an online DBA after an MCA.

PhD in Business Management

Pursuing a doctorate program after a Master of Computer Applications (MCA) can be an excellent choice to extend the knowledge and expertise in research in a particular domain. For pursuing a PhD program in regular mode, the students are required to have a master's degree or a four-year bachelor's degree with 75% in aggregate. The students who are willing to enroll in doctoral programs are now mandatory to appear for the UGC-NET exam, as from now on admission to doctoral programs in the universities will be conducted based on the performance of the students in UGC-NET. After qualifying for the UGC-NET exams, students are required to appear for an interview and research proposal to the departmental research committee. Based on the performance in UGC-NET and interview, students are selected for PhD programs in the universities.

If you don't have time to follow these rigid steps to get into a doctoral program, you can consider for Online Doctorate of Business Administration (Online DBA) program. This program is designed for working professionals who are working at the executive or senior levels and have a work experience of 3 to 5 years. The Online DBA is highly flexible and it will be a great blend of technical knowledge from MCA and business knowledge from DBA. Online DBA is a 3-year doctoral program that offers flexibility and time management to manage a doctoral degree with professional commitments without leaving the job.

After completing an MCA, you can earn a DBA or a doctorate by enrolling in a recognized university or institution that has a doctoral program. You will often be required to have eligibility criteria, which would include some form of relevant master's and sometimes work experience, and going through some kind of entrance test or interview. For your DBA, the focus will be on applied research in the field of business or management, while if you pursue a PhD, you will be doing original research on your chosen field, which can include computer applications or IT.  Make sure that the program is accredited by the UGC or other relevant authorities for the degree to be valid.
