A part-time internal PhD is a PhD program where a student is employed and works at the university while pursuing their doctoral studies. A part-time PhD is a doctorate you can undertake alongside other engagements like work or family. It will normally take about five to seven years because of the part-time nature. In this case, you have sufficient time to study as you balance out your studies with other commitments. On the other hand, a traditional PhD is always done full time where you commit fully to the research, usually for three to four years to complete. As far as efforts and dedication in a part-time PhD and full-time PhD go, the difference only lies in how much time can be devoted. Part-time PhDs take longer because you are not studying every day, while full-time PhDs are more immersive and faster to complete.
