CAT is an abbreviated form of "Common Admission Test". This test is conducted for students who wish to pursue an MBA in any specialization. CAT is conducted by the IIM Calcutta and is a national-level test. This exam is conducted once a year.
If a student is unable to write in an exam or is mentally/physically/visually impaired, then s/he is allowed to have a candidate known as a transcriber/scribe along with them. These scribes are now writing the exam on behalf of the actual candidate, however, the CAT aspirant is sitting beside the scribe and providing the answers to the scribe.
To be allowed to have your scribe, you should get approval from the government. For information go through the CAT Scribe Affidavit form issued on their official website.
