In 2007, the Government of Gujarat enacted the Gujarat Act No. 20 and passed it to create the Gujarat Technological University (GTU) as a way to promote global excellence in the fields of science, technology, the humanities and multidisciplinary studies for sustainable development and supporting human life. Since its founding, GTU has become one of the top educational and research centres aimed at innovating thought and supporting individuals in challenging regular ideas to achieve success.

Based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, GTU has operations through six zones that also cover Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Rajkot, Surat and Bhuj. The effort includes over 480 colleges that provide a variety of disciplines such as engineering, architecture, management, pharmacy and computer science. At present, there are approximately 400,000 students studying at the university in diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs.

The university aims to foster outstanding educational and research institutions on its premises and at those partnered by it, all using teaching methods and facilities designed to meet national and international standards. GTU tries to create facilities and resources that develop knowledge, abilities and skills in multiple areas of education. The institution also supports the development of innovators, entrepreneurs and professionals by using research-based teaching and by collaborating with both academic, industry and government partners.

Students at GTU are encouraged to ask questions, search for new answers and develop new concepts in their studies. The quality of education at the university can be seen in its A+ accreditation from NAAC and recognition by UGC. Its main programs are in engineering and management, taught by a faculty that consists of professionals and PhD holders.

To help students advance in their studies, the university carries out exams twice each year and the results are declared very quickly. The GTU Innovation Council is one of the ways the school helps students and researchers turn their ideas into successful businesses.
