The examination pattern followed by the institute is the most basic, it includes two main components: internal assessment and term-end examination. Internal assessments are conducted to evaluate the practical understanding of the student through the academic activities and assignments submitted by the students whereas term-end examinations are conducted to evaluate the overall theoretical understanding of the program by a student. The weightage of marks carried by these exams is 30% and 70% respectively. 

IIM Sambalpur has been performing well in placing its students in partnered companies where students are offered lucrative opportunities to work. The highest annual CTC achieved at the placement event is around INR 22-24 LPA. The average annual CTC achieved by the batch is around INR 13-15 LPA.
