IIM Visakhapatnam offers a 2-year Executive MBA course for working professionals (EMBA). This course helps working professionals pursue an MBA while working in their current jobs at the same time. The students get to upskill themselves to gain new management skills and strategies which could be useful for the organisation where they are working. The course is held in hybrid mode where there will be online classes on the Interactive Learning (IL) platform.

Along with that, there will be a 2-time campus immersion. The students get to understand the demands & challenges faced by modern business organisations and get to enhance their knowledge in functional domains. This course sharpens the student’s skills in analytical, decision-making, and diagnostic tools & techniques; and eventually enables the student to play his/her role in the organisation with newly developed confidence and competency. 

Being a general management programme, its curriculum has rich and relevant content that caters to the needs of the dynamic business environment. In the first half of the curriculum, functional domains are taken up as core courses, while in the second half with a few core courses, 15 electives are taken based on the student’s domain of interest. The functional domains which are taken up in this course are Finance & Accounting, Organisational Behaviour, Marketing, Information Systems, Economics, Strategy, Human Resources, Entrepreneurship, and Product & Operations. In the first half of this course, core courses from all functional domains are held.

In the second half of the course, core courses such as Business Ethics & Law, Capstone Project, and Project Management are taken up. Along with that, there are 15 electives based on specialisations according to the student’s interests such as Finance & Accounting, Decision Sciences, Organisational Behaviour & Human Resource Management, Communication, Entrepreneurship, Economics, Marketing, Production &Operations Management, Information systems, and Strategy. For the course of this curriculum, the total programme fee is INR 10,80,000. 

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university.
• Should have a minimum work experience of 3 years after graduation
• Should have a minimum of 50% marks* or its equivalent CGPA in graduation.
• Should be a resident Indian national.

*45% for the candidates who belong to NC-OBC(Non Creamy-Other Backward Classes) and EWS (Economical Weaker Sections) categories. 40% for the candidates who belong to SC( Scheduled Caste),ST(Scheduled Tribe) and PwD (Person with Disabilities).

The IIM Visakhapatnam’s Executive MBA course has a proper evaluation and examination system in place. Evaluation methods vary from course to course depending on the course instructor. The methods that are used to examine or evaluate students are assignments, quizzes, class participation, projects,  term examinations, etc. These examinations and evaluations are meant to test how much has a student learned during the course. It also acts as a platform for expressing and applying knowledge. Like when it comes to assignments, a student’s knowledge of a particular topic is examined.

Then the class participation evaluates the student’s ability to ask doubts, how much the student is involved in the class discussions, opinions expressed, and showcasing knowledge when asked questions by the instructor. Then quizzes are asked to keep in touch with the curriculum’s subjects. At the end of each term, a term examination is held which tests the student’s total term knowledge and application of the topics that were taught during the term. A project is where the student applies the relevant concepts and theories learned during the course to create something fresh and impactful.

IIM Visakhapatnam’s Executive MBA course students have a decent record when it comes to getting placed in reputed companies partnered with the institute. Some of the companies that participated in the placement event were Amazon, Amul, Deloitte, UltraTech, Maruti Suzuki, KPMG, etc. The highest placement record (CTC) achieved by a student from the batch was around INR 31-33 LPA.
