What is GATE?

GATE is an abbreviation for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. It is an entrance examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) on behalf of the Department of Higher Education, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), the Government of India, and the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE for the purpose of determining admission to the MTech program.

This examination is meant to assess a student’s comprehensive understanding of a variety of undergraduate engineering and scientific fields in preparation for admission to a Master’s programme and employment in a variety of government sectors.

GATE COAP

All admission bids are submitted by GATE via the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). Following their entrance tests, candidates must register on the COAP site for inspection and acceptance by IIT Madras. COAP registration is absolutely free.

Candidates are urged to get a copy of the COAP 2022 information brochure and to follow the Participation Guidelines. COAP is not, however, a venue for M.Tech admissions.

It is only a means of obtaining information about the GATE Examination results and IIT Madras’ cut-off lists. COAP registration number is a compulsory field on the IIT Madras website while applying for M.Tech admission.

M.Tech for Working Professionals

If you are a working professional who has started working immediately after completing your B.Tech degree, and you now want to pursue higher education, then M.Tech for working professionals can be a great option for you. M.Tech for working professionals is a part-time course designed specifically for working professionals. The course allows working professionals to pursue an M.Tech degree without leaving their jobs. The course is delivered in a hybrid fashion with online classes as well as offline classes.

The online classes are held through a digital platform called the Learning Management System (LMS). The online classes are live video lectures which are also recorded and uploaded on the LMS so that students can access them anytime if they have missed the class. This LMS is like a virtual classroom, where all the study material relevant to the course is available.

The offline classes are held on the campus for laboratory sessions and to give practical experience to the students. All the online and offline classes are held on weekends or during evenings, depending on the university where you take admission. This is to ensure that working professionals can easily manage their job and studies together.

The total fee of the course is quite less in comparison to a regular M.Tech program. The total fee for an M.Tech for working professionals course is within the range of INR 1-2 lakhs only for the complete course. This is almost half of the total fees of a regular M.Tech course. So, students who have financial difficulties can also pursue this course after completing their B.Tech if they can not afford the expensive regular M.Tech program.

However, it is really important to find the right university for pursuing an M.Tech for working professionals course. The university you choose must have approvals from the government regulatory bodies UGC and AICTE, otherwise your degree will not be valid. Following are some of the top universities in India that offer M.Tech for working professional courses in several specialisations:

Wrap Up

As a result, I’ve given detailed advice on how to apply for the MTech program at IIT Madras. Additionally, I’d like to emphasize that you may pursue an MTech degree without taking any entrance exams, since most private schools, such as Shri Venkateshwara University, admit students without needing them to take an entrance exam.

MTech part-time, MTech working professional, and similar courses are also available to students who are unable to attend regularly scheduled sessions, and admission to these courses is handled directly by the university.

While IIT Madras is without a doubt the best institution for engineering students, there are also some private institutions that offer this education at a lower cost to students.
