Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University was established on 23, Aug 1958. The University was formerly known by the name Marathwada University and later named Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University. This institute is located in Aurangabad, Maharashtra (in the Republic of India). This institution was established to fix the loopholes in the delivery of higher in the western Vidarbha, North Maharashtra & Marathawad regions.

This institution has immensely contributed to providing quality education to the people around adjoining regions of the University. It has around 428 colleges that are affiliated to it. These colleges come under mainly in four main districts Beed, Jalna, Osmanabad, and Aurangabad. Currently, the university has exceeded the population to more than 4,44,336 students. 

It has various departments/ schools through which the institution offers courses to the students like the School of Computational & Physical Sciences, the School of Professional Studies, the School of Social Sciences, the School of Liberal Arts, the School of Languages, the School of Performing Arts & Visuals and many more. The University came up with a new initiative to offer free online courses to the students. 

These courses are offered to the students through the SWAYAM Portal. It is a program that is initiated by GOI (Government of India), and it is designed to offer the three most important cardinal principles of policy of education that are quick access, Equity, and top-notch quality to all.  The main motive behind this program is to provide the best learning online resources to the students and it bridges the broad divide for the learners who are unable to accomplish their regular degree and are away from the knowledge domain of the mainstream. 

All the courses that are offered can be accessed by anyone anywhere. Courses like Food Microbiology and Food Safety, CellDesigner - modeling tool for gene-regulatory and biochemical networks, Elements of Nanotechnology: Novice to Professional,  Web Based Technologies and Multimedia Applications, Environment Natural Resources, and Sustainable Development are offered under the Science Department to undergraduate and postgraduate level students. 

Courses like Introduction to Cyber Security, Thermodynamics & its Application, Sustainable Management of Biodiversity, Solid and Hazardous Waste Management, Principle of Electrical Sciences, and Innovation by Design are offered to students enrolled in UG or PG programs. In Management fields for UG and PG enrolled students courses that are offered to the students are Accounting for Managerial Decisions, E-Commerce, Management Functions, Management of Human Resources, and Financial Accounting.  

The university is recognized by UGC (CPECA in Rural Development) for the departments of Economics, Sociology, and Political Science, UGC SAP Departments of the University are Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Economics, and Statistics. This is also a certified National Institutional Ranking Framework India’s University with a Rank of 76th (2021). Also, this University is approved by AICTE. 

The University has a well-managed training and placement Cell that helps strengthen the relationship between the corporate and the student. This gives chance to the learner to freely get top job opportunities from the MNCs.  After training, they also provide certificates to the students that can be used during employment. Faculty Development Programs, and Skill Development programs are also conducted by the University.
