Guru Kashi University was founded in 1997 by Balaji Education Trust, Talwandi Sabo and he became the pioneer for the establishment of education in that region. Firstly, Guru Gobind Singh Polytechnic was formed in the year 1998, and then graduate and postgraduate courses were added. After that Guru Gobind Singh College of Engineering & Technology was established in 2001, and then in 2005 Guru Gobind Singh College of Education was established, and since then the university is grown beautifully keeping the bar high for delivering quality education, skills, and industrial exposure.

It is located in a rural place in Punjab and caters to the rising high demand for agriculture hence it started many programs through its College of Agriculture, with accreditations from ICAR & PCAR. At present, it has students from more than 15 countries and more than 100 international students from all across the globe. 

The University is offering 80+ courses at levels of undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and various other programs to the students. They offer quality education through many different faculties of computing, faculty of humanities and language, faculty of Visual and performing arts, faculty Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Physical Education, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty Management and Commerce, the Faculty of Health and Allied Sciences, Faculty of Education and Information Sciences, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Humanities and Language, and many more. 

Guru Kashi University is a UGC-recognised university, it is also recognized by the Government of Punjab, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, a Member of the Association of Indian Universities, the National Council for Teacher Education, the Pharmacy Council of India, the Bar Council of India, it is also granted with International Organisation for Standardization. 

The University is accredited by the National Assessment & Accreditation (NAAC) with a grade of A++. Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Computer Applications, Bachelor of Business Administration, Master of Arts (History), and Master of Commerce (Finance and Taxation Management).
