Who is eligible for an Entrance Exam? 

To be eligible for an Entrance exam for a PhD, you must fulfill the mentioned eligibility criteria :

• You must have completed your master’s from a government-recognized university with a minimum mark of 50-55 percent. 
• Next, you also need to pass the entrance exam.

The admission procedure to gain admission to a PhD program

To gain admission to a Ph.D. program, it is a must for you to follow the given  steps below :

1)  Go to the university’s official website and check all the specializations offered by the university and all the information regarding the specialization you wish to pursue. 

2)  To fill out the application form, you must keep an eye on the university's official website as they publish the notification regarding the admission on their website. 

3) You need to submit the application form on the timelines provided by the university. It is advised that you must submit all the necessary documents required for admission. 

4)  Keep in mind that some universities can also ask for the research proposal with the application form and you must have your research proposal ready. 

5) Once your application is reviewed, universities will shortlist the students who will be able to take an entrance exam. 

6)  Once you pass the exam and another round, then you will be given research guides or supervisors for your PhD research. 

How to prepare for an Entrance Exam

You must know the exam test pattern and curriculum for efficient preparation for the entrance exam. There are 2 papers in the entrance exam. Paper 1 and Paper 2. You must take both exams in a single three-hour session. Paper 1 assesses your ability to teach and research while paper 2 consists of subject-specific questions. 

• Before applying for admission to a PhD program at a college, students need to fully understand the prerequisites and the accepted exam results for that specific college.
• Before focusing on specific universities, aspiring students should research which entrance exams those universities accept.
• Candidates should choose a PhD program based on their interest in a specific research area. They should also consider the course options and tuition costs at the universities offering the best PhD programs.
• Candidates must also verify whether the university offers any stipends and try to secure any fellowships to fund their PhD program.
