Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) is a public state university situated in Muktha Gangothri, Mysuru, Karnataka, and was established in 1996. KSOU was established by the act of legislature in 1992, and later in 1996, it was bought into force. The main aim of establishing such educational institutions was to empower the youth across the nation with higher education and allow them to access quality education with equality, affordability, and authenticity.“HIGHER EDUCATION FOR EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE”.

The well-known institution Karnataka State Open University was carved out from the University of Mysore in 1996. Formerly KSOU was a part of Mysore University and was known as the Institute of Correspondence Courses and Continuing Education (ICC&CE).

The motto of KSOU is “HIGHER EDUCATION FOR EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE”, which shows enthusiastic courage and builds trust among the students. Its main objective was to reach out to those students who are not able to pursue their further studies due to any constraints. 

KSOU provides UGC-approved study material, which has the updated and latest curriculum, and simultaneously till now, KSOU has established 21 regional centers and multiple affiliated colleges as their study centers across the state. KSOU has its from places where it is difficult to reach out for educational purposes. Still, it has immense reach across the country and provides an impeccable impact on the students through its upgraded facilities that include new advancements and virtual educational means and classrooms.
