Tamil Nadu Open University is a well-known and reputed university across India it is a prominent university in the southern region of the country more often it is known as TNOU. Tamil Nadu Open University was the first university in the state, that offered Credit Based Self Learning Materials in print from 2003 and onwards. TNOU is recognized and approved by UGC-DEB, NCTE, RCI, and AICTE. TNOU considers and values its students and for a better experience and considering the availability of students and working professionals the university conveniently arranges examinations on weekends.

The growth of TNOU has been immensely phenomenal and their cumulative student strength has been over one million in the past 20 years combining all the offered programs in UG, PG, and certificate courses. TNOU was an initiative of the state government of Tamil Nau and their main objective was to reach and deliver quality education to those students who are not able to get all the facilities and are unable to pursue their further studies due to constraints.
