Pursuing higher education at a foreign university can be an exciting venture, but it’s important to understand that the necessary approvals and accreditations vary based on the chosen country and institution. Each university establishes its own admission criteria, so it’s essential for prospective students to familiarize themselves with the specific guidelines set forth by their desired programs, universities, and countries.

For students aiming to enroll in a bachelor's degree program abroad, a fundamental requirement is the completion of secondary education, typically a minimum qualification of 10+2 from an accredited and recognized educational board. This foundational education is crucial as it sets the stage for further academic pursuits.

On the other hand, those interested in master’s programs must have previously obtained a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in their home country. This requirement ensures that candidates possess the necessary academic background to succeed at the graduate level. Additionally, aspiring master's candidates should be aware of the specific admission requirements associated with their chosen programs, which may include standardized tests, personal statements, letters of recommendation, or relevant work experience.

Navigating the requirements for studying abroad can seem daunting, but understanding and carefully following each university's guidelines is essential. Not only does this ensure compliance with the educational standards of the destination country, but it also enhances the overall learning experience. Students must conduct thorough research and prepare accordingly to enhance their chances of successful admission into their preferred foreign universities, paving the way for a rewarding educational journey.

If you are an Indian aspirant and planning to get a job in a foreign country or wish to complete your higher studies abroad, you must look out for the exact eligibility requirements specific to the country you are applying to.

  • For jobs, you need to have a UG/PG degree from a UGC-approved university. The level of the degree and specialization area would vary based on the post you are applying for. Moreover, some countries’ universities ask for a WES-recognized degree, so make sure to check the country’s criteria before applying for a job in it.

  • For a UG Degree, you need to pass your 10+2 level of education from a recognized Board of Education (State/Central).

  • For a PG Degree, you must complete your bachelor’s degree from a UGC-recognized university in a related discipline.

Other than these academic requirements, you need to fulfill the visa requirements for the country you are planning to settle in.

Your university should be recognized and accredited so that you can be able to get foreign jobs or pursue higher education in foreign countries. Institutions and employers need official transcripts, degree certificates and demonstration of English language proficiency by taking examinations such as IELTS or TOEFL. To pursue higher studies, you might also be required to submit standardized test scores like GMAT or GRE, a resume, letters of recommendation, and a statement of purpose. There are certain countries that will need your credential evaluation through agencies such as WES in order to determine the equivalence of your degree. Meeting these requirements will ensure that you are qualified to take opportunities in other countries with your degree and documents.
