Osmania University known as Professor G Ram Reddy Centre for Distance Education was established in 1918. It is considered one of the best Universities in India that is offering quality education to students throughout India. The University is ranked as the 7th Oldest University of India and it is ranked third Oldest University in the Southern Part of India. In the year 2019, the University got the recognition to offer some Open and Distance Education programs to Students.
This was very helpful for the working professionals as it helped working professionals, married women, and many more students, a chance to broaden their knowledge. Today, the University is successfully offering undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate courses to the Students. They have to appear for the term-end or semester examination at the allotted centers. Students get a chance to fill out the Online examination form song with the choice preference of the examination centers.
This University is world-renowned for its prestige as it is one of the largest affiliated Universities in Asian Universities. The University is known for its innovative and valuable research facilities that have made it possible for the institute has already publish more than 1339 research papers and around 113+ books published. The University is still undergoing various research projects. PROF. G. RAM REDDY CENTRE FOR DISTANCE EDUCATION offers various courses like an MA in English, Hindi, Political Science, History, Public Personnel Management, Sociology, Sanskrit, Urdu and a PG Diploma in English Language Teaching and Business Management.
The campus of the University is spread over an area of 1300 acres that consists of campus colleges, constituent colleges, and a library. This is known to be one of the largest affiliated Universities in Asia that has more than 3.2 lakh students and international students from more than 87 countries all over the world.
