About Periyar University Distance Education
Periyar University is a government university situated in Salem, Tamil Nade, and was established in 1997. Periyar University is a renowned university in the southern part of India and offers education through three different modes, i.e., Departments of Study and Research, the affiliated Colleges, and Periyar Institute of Distance Education (PRIDE).
Periyar University established Periyar University Centre for Online and Distance Education (PUCODE) as its directorate for distance education. Online Education at Periyar University started functioning in 2001-2002. The Periyar University Online Education is UGC-DEB approved, received NIRF 63rd Ranking, accredited “A++” by NAAC, and AICTE approved university.

Periyar University Distance Education Admission Process
For getting admission at Periyar University Online Education students must follow the below-mentioned steps:
Step 1- For admission to Periyar University’s online education programs, students are required to visit the official website of the university.
Step 2- After visiting the official website students can download the application form and start filling it out with the required information.
Step 3- While filling out the application form students must attach the required documents along with it.
Step 4- Students must pay the online application fee while submitting the application form.
Step 5- After the application fee, students must submit the application form along with the payment receipt and documents.

Periyar University Distance Education Examination Pattern
The examination pattern of online education programs at Periyar University has two main components namely: Continuous Internal Assessments (CIA) and Online Examinations.
- Continuous Internal Assessments (CIA)
The Continuous Internal Assessments (CIA) consists of three parts: Part A, Part B, and Part C. Every part contains two sub-parts: MCQ-based test and Subjective based test and every part contains under Continuous Internal Assessments contain 25 marks and students will be awarded the marks of the part in which they have scored a maximum. These Continuous Internal Assessments are conducted through the LMS.
- Online Examination
The online examination is also considered of two main parts which are compulsory to attend. The first part has MCQ-type questions and carries a weightage of 25 marks and every question carries one mark individually.
Part B has 8 questions which carry 10 marks each. It is a subjective type of question and students have to answer 5 out of 8 questions. Combining both parts will result in 75 marks.

The LMS at Periyar Online University is quite good and easy to use. All the features are really helpful and handy. The online examination process can be a little better though. Even the fee of the program is very much affordable. In all, my experience of studying at the university was quite good.

The online M.Com course at Periyar University was taught well and the faculty was quite interactive. The online live lecture sessions are useful for clearing doubts and the LMS is also easy to use even on my smartphone. The course material given is also quite comprehensive.
