Is CUET mandatory for UG and PG Degree Courses?

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has made it mandatory for central universities to accept students admission only on the basis of CUET (Common University Entrance Test) and not on the basis of marks obtained in 12 standard.

UGC took this initiative to offer an additional chance to students in order to get admitted to their dream university as the cut-off for central universities remains usually high these exams will assist the students to score good marks as per their preferred university and program.

Various private universities accept admission without CUET but students applying for these universities must go through the eligibility criteria of the university and the particular program they are applying for. These universities have different requirements included in their admission process, they consider academic scores, background, skills, and extracurricular activities through personal interviews during the admission process.

Registration and Application Process for CUET Exam

Students who are preparing themselves to appear for CUET 2024 are required to follow the below-mentioned steps:

• Interested candidates are required to visit the official website of the CUET Examination 2024.
• After visiting the website students have to register themselves the website, the registration process requires personnel qualification, work experience, and personnel information.
• When the registration process is completed the students will receive their login credentials for the application portal.
• With the help of login credentials, students will have access to the application form and the candidate can start filling out the application form with the required information.
• While filling out the application form candidates must attach the required documents along with the application form. It may include mark sheets supporting the qualification, a photo of the candidate's signature, a passport-size color photo, etc.
• When the application form has been filled the candidate must go through the form and look for any mistakes and abnormalities after that the candidate will be redirected to the payment option, the fee can be paid through a debit card, credit card, UPI, Net banking, etc.
• Fee payment is the last step and the candidate can finally click on the submit tab below their application form.

Eligibility Criteria for CUET 2024 UG Examination

Students appearing for CUET are obliged to follow a few sets of rules and meet some of the requirements set up by the NTA (National Testing Agency) to become eligible for the CUET exam.

The eligibility criteria for CUET UG 2024 are mentioned below: 

• Students must have cleared 12 standard or equivalent examinations from a valid and recognized school.
• Students must have cleared all the subjects in their class 12 and students who failed to do so, are not eligible to appear for the CUET exam.
• Candidates have to go through the eligibility criteria of the particular university and program they are applying for, every university has its different CUET eligibility rules.
• Students who fail to meet the eligibility criteria of CUET are not considered to proceed with the admission process even if they have cleared the CUET examination. 

Eligibility Criteria for CUET PG 2024 Examination

The eligibility criteria for the CUET PG 2024 examination are mentioned below: 

• Candidate must have completed their bachelor's degree from a valid and recognized university with a minimum score of 55%. 
• Candidates are required to check the educational qualification and eligibility criteria of the particular program they are willing to opt for and the university they are taking admission into. 
• Students in their last year of graduation can also apply for the CUET PG 2024.

Important points 

• There are no age restrictions for students appearing for CUET UG and PG exams.
• Students can appear for the CUET examination as many times as they wish, there is no minimum attempt restriction on the examination.

Do 12 standard marks are important for CUET 2024?

Marks obtained by an individual in their 12 class are not included in CUET but every university has different eligibility criteria for the marks obtained in their 12 standard. Some universities consider 12 standard marks along with CUET scores whereas some universities don’t. 

But every candidate needs to clear every subject in their 12 standards in order to become eligible for CUET students from the general category have to score a minimum of 50% marks in their 12 standards and candidates from the reserved category have to score a minimum of 45% of marks. 

Students who have appeared for CUET and cleared it but failed to clear their subjects in 12 standards are not eligible to proceed with the admission process.
