The ultimate goal of students after completing senior secondary (12th) is to get enrolled in a prestigious university/college for further studies. Choosing the best university is a crucial decision in everyone's life, as it shapes the whole career of an individual.
NIRF rankings are the most popular and trustworthy government organization that ranks universities or colleges yearly according to the environment in the colleges, highly qualified faculty, accreditation and recognition, quality of the education process, and curriculum. NIRF ranking this year, 2025, was released on September 4th.
NIRF Introduction

Understanding the Parameters of NIRF Ranking
- Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR): Teaching, learning, and resources (TLR) is the first parameter of the NIRF rankings, which includes the resources of the academic and research level of any university. This ensures that the qualification of the faculty is up to par, and students can access the learning materials or resources easily.
- Research and Professional Practice (RP): The second parameter of the NIRF ranking is research and professional practices (RP), which helps the NIRF to evaluate the university's professional goals and research output. The professional growth of the universities depends on the management and faculty. So, this parameter will clarify the outcomes of research and professionalism in one go.
- Graduation Outcomes (GO): Graduation outcomes (GO) are a crucial parameter for not only NIRF but students as well. This parameter helps students to choose the best universities as it consists of the success rate of students from a university. Graduation outcomes further measure the capacity of a University to provide students with good career opportunities and transform them for the good in this challenging world.

- Outreach and Inclusivity (OI): In the second last parameter, NIRF ranks universities by their efforts in the growth of underrepresented groups such as women, minorities, the physically challenged, and the left-out communities. The OI parameter is all about the growth of outreach groups in India.
- Peer Perception (PR): Last but not least, peer perception (PR) includes the reputation of the university and its standing in the academic and professional university world. This parameter consists of surveys and preferences.
