Osmania University Part-Time PhD in Management

You can apply for a PhD in Management at Osmania University if you meet these rules:

• You have a 1-year master’s degree after a 4-year bachelor’s, or a 2-year master’s after a 3-year bachelor’s, or any qualification equal to a master’s degree (approved by a recognized body).
• You must have at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade).
• If you are applying directly after a 4-year bachelor’s degree, you need 75% marks or above.
• If you already hold an M.Phil. degree with 55% marks (Indian or foreign, from a recognized university), you are eligible.
• Students from SC, ST, BC, EWS, and differently-abled categories get 5% relaxation.
• Admission is through the PhD Entrance Test conducted by Osmania University in different subjects, depending on available seats.
• If you have cleared UGC NET JRF, CSIR, ICMR, ICAR, DBT, INSPIRE, NFSC & ST, but did not get admission under Category-I, you must take the test for Category-II.
• If you qualified only for Assistant Professor through UGC NET, or only for PhD admission, you must also appear for the entrance test.
• If you don’t want to appear for the entrance test, you can choose an Online DBA program, which is considered equal to a PhD and has no entrance exam requirement.

Foreign students can apply by sending their application with a research proposal, applying through the International Affairs Office, and getting approval from the Research Committee and the Dean.

• You must fulfill the above PhD admission rules.
• You should be employed in an organization related to your subject/domain.
• You must provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer, clearly stating:
  • You are permitted to pursue a PhD.
  • You will be granted at least 6 months of leave during the coursework period.
  • Your job duties will allow you enough time for research.
  • You can be relieved from duty if required for coursework.
• Part-time PhD tenure is 5 years from the date of joining.
• Part-time PhD scholars are not eligible for hostel facilities.

The Center of Distance Education of the University envisaged helping the students get knowledge through the distance mode of Education. All the programs that are offered in the distance mode are affordable. However, students have the chance to apply for scholarships at the University. Some of the Scholarships that are offered by the state and the central government for students are-

• Scholarships granted to Disabled Students

Additionally, some category students get concessions on the annual tuition fees like for-

• To specific Categories, like SC, ST, and other
• Women
• Military

Note- All the scholarships granted to the students will be given as per the University norms. 

The courses offered in Distance Mode are cheap and light on pocket compared to the course that is offered to the students in full-time courses. Hence students can pursue the degree without any fear of paying a lot to the University.

The course syllabus of the part-time PhD program at Osmania University is structured to equip students with robust research acumen while on the job in their respective areas of employment. Initially, students take courses in research methodology, data analysis, and literature review to acquaint themselves with doing academic work appropriately. Subsequently, they concentrate on their area of study, studying advanced concepts and contemporary topics in management. The core of the program is research work, wherein students select a subject matter, compose a thesis, and present it in the presence of experts. Independent research, critical thinking, and developing novel knowledge are the focus throughout the course.

The examination of the institute consists of the theoretical examination and project or assessments. All the assessments have to be submitted to the University on or before the final date of the submission. However, the evaluation is based on the efforts students put in to accomplish the degree and the assessments. 

The evaluation is done on the basis of two important factors:

• Assessment/ Assignment and other Project work
• Term-End Examination/ Semester Examination

After completing a part-time PhD in Management from Osmania University, students can work in many good jobs. They can become professors, researchers, corporate trainers, or senior managers in companies. Some also work as consultants, policy makers, or business leaders. The salary depends on the job and experience. In teaching or research, it can start from ₹6–8 lakhs per year, while in corporate or consulting roles, it can go above ₹15–20 lakhs per year. With more experience, the pay keeps increasing.
