Rabindra Bharati University Distance Education

The Rabindra Bharati University was established in 1962 under the Rabindra Bharati Act of Govt. of West Bengal to honor the birth anniversary of the great legendary poet India will ever have Rabindranath Tagore The university is situated in Kolkata, West Bengal. To promote and impart the ideas of Rabindranath Tagore the university initiated its Centre for Distance and Online Education in 2002, to offer education through distance and open learning mode, which was earlier known as the Directorate of Distance Education.

The main objective of the DIstance Education at Rabindra Bharati University was to spread education via Rabindranath Tagore's vision of  Visual Arts, Performing Arts, and Humanities and Social Science. The Rabindra Bharati University Distance Education was accredited with four-star status by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) in 2001 and received a Grade A reaccreditation and a 3.10 CGPA Score in February 2016. 

The Rabindra Bharati University Distance Education offers various courses such as Undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral level programs in multiple specializations that are valid and approved by the University Grants Commission and Distance Education Council. The university has its main three campuses located at BT. Road, Jorasanko Campus, and Salt Lake Campus.

The Rabindra Bharati University Distance Education does not offer financial assistance to its students or facilities like Loans or EMIs. The examination process at the Rabindra Bharati University Distance Education follows the ideal and majorly opted examination process by other Distance Education offering universities. The examination process at the university is majorly comprised of two important components namely: internal assessment and end-term examination. 

The internal assessment of the university carried a weightage of 20-30% of total marks obtained by a student in a semester through the assignment and other education activities that are organized by the university during a semester. The rest of the evaluation of a student through their academic year is evaluated based on the scores that they obtained at the end-term examination which carried 70-80% of total weightage. The Rabindra Bharati University Distance Education offers a blended mode of examination under which examinations are regulated in both online and offline modes. 

A few rules and regulations to be considered by the students are:

• Students have to log in to the exam portal thirty minutes before the commencement of the examination. 
• Students must log in to the exam portal by using their allotted credentials.
• After logging in students must go through the mentioned instructions thoroughly.
• Students must write their answers on a standard quality A4 size sheet or paper.
