What Is IGNOU Distance Education?
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) named after the former Prime Minister of India, Indra Gandhi. It starts with a budget of Rs 20 million and it is one of the largest open universities in the world, formed in the year 1985. IGNOU is offering 227 programs in 21 schools and 67 regional centers in India.
It has its main center in New Delhi and it is NCTE, AICTE approved. IGNOU distance education offers numerous UG, PG courses, and Diploma & Certificate courses like BA, BSW, BCA, MCA, M. COM, M. Sc, Event Management, Environmental Studies, Information Security, Performing Arts, Tourism Studies, etc.
Initially, it starts with two academic programs that are Diploma in Management and Diploma in Distance Education with only 4,528 students. Today it has a strength of about 810 faculty members, 574 academic staff, 33,212 academic counselors.
