Uttarakhand Open University

The Uttarakhand Open University is one of the leading and prominent institutions in Uttarakhand and slowly grasping its place among the top-ranked universities in which students opt for further studies. The university has a major thought towards the open and distance learning system and to promote it the university is pushing hard for its resources. To give opportunities to students across the nation the Uttarakhand Open University Distance Education was established in 2005 by an Act of Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly.

The main objective behind establishing distance education at Uttarakhand Open University was to support independent learning through open and distance learning through flexible, affordable, and innovative methods. The education offered at the university is top-notch and the university offers its education throughout the country with its various study centers which are located at Dehradun, Roorkee, Pauri, Uttar Kashi, Haldwani, Ranikhet, Pithoragarh, and Bageshwar respectively. 

Uttarakhand University offers a plethora of courses with various specializations with world-class education quality and regularly updated and revised study materials, whose main focus and objective is to upskill the students' skills and enhance their personality for better future aspects. The various courses offered at the university include undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma courses. The Uttarakhand Open University is a valid and approved university by the University Grants Commission, National Council for Teacher Education, and Distance Education Bureau.

The Uttarakhand Open University Distance Education offers multiple courses in different specializations and offers every course at the ease and fingertips of the students through the different departments of the school. To make sure every interested student gets an equal opportunity to pursue their further studies and the fee structure of a program doesn't result as a hindrance in a student's academic journey, the university has specially designed and structured the fee structure of every course in such a way that every program is budget friendly for students and affordable for working professional, but the university does not offer any financial assistance from its end which include loans and EMIs. The examination process at the Uttarakhand Open University strictly follows the rules and regulations imposed by the open and distance learning philosophy. The ideal mix of open and distance learning education mode examination includes assignment, internal assessment, and end-term examination. All these are combined at the end of every semester to evaluate a student's overall performance throughout the year. 

Before the commencement of the examination, the university makes sure that their students are updated regularly regarding their academic session, and the university maintains proper contact with the students through the UOU web portal, e-mail, and SMS facility. When the students are about to start, students have to enroll themselves by filling out the examination form according to which the students receive an allotment of their study center, and their hall tickets are issued by the university, which allows them entry to the exam hall.

If we talk about the the major components of the examination the internal assessment carries a weightage of 20-30% which is decided by the university and the rest of the marks weight is carried by the end-term examinations.
