The University of Kashmir was established in 1948 and is situated in Hazratbal, Srinagar. To offer education through open and distance modes the University of Kashmir established its Directorate of Distance Education in 1976. The main aim of the University of Kashmir is to impart education and knowledge in every region of the country where there is no availability of education.
The University of Kashmir distance education is approved by the University Grants Commission and accredited Grade A+ by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council of India. Which makes it a prominent and valid university.

The University of Kashmir distance education has a very well-structured fee structure for every course and program offered at the university to make it affordable and pocket-friendly for every student. The university does not offer such loan or EMI assistance to the students but there are a few financial assistance students can go for:
- Merit-based scholarships - it is awarded at the end of every last semester to the top candidates based on their performance.
- Research scholarships - This scholarship is research-driven for Ph.D./M.phil. Degrees students.
- Students aid scholarships - students coming from low-income groups, or weaker economic sections can avail of this scholarship.

University of Kashmir Distance Education Admission Process
To get enrolled at the DistanceEducation of the University of Kashmir, students are required to follow the below-mentioned steps accurately:
Step 1 - To get enrolled at the university students are required to visit the official website of the university.
Step 2 - After visiting the official website, students must go through the guidelines and before filling out the application form students must register themselves as a student on the website.
Step 3 - After registering as a student on the official website students will receive their login credentials.
Step 4 - Log in with the received credential and click on the online application form.
Step 5 - Fill out the application form correctly with the required information.
Step 6 - While filling out the application form attach the required documents along with the application form.
Step 7 - Pay the application fee and print out the application form and draft the application form along with the document, fee receipt at the directorate of Distance Education, University of Kashmir (Srinagar/Regional Center, DDE/Sub Office, University of Kashmir, Bhatindi, Jammu).
Note - admission at the university is merit-based and depends upon the number obtained by an individual in qualifying examinations.

University of Kashmir Distance Education Examination Pattern
The exams at the university may vary from program to program and any update regarding it will be updated on the official website of the university, but majorly the examination process is divided into two parts, internal assessments and end-term examinations.
Internal assessments include all the assignments that are assigned to every student at the beginning of each semester. These internal assessments carry 20-30% of weightage whereas the rest is carried by the end-term examinations.
